# Product and engineering handoff

## Module contract

Every homepage module should document:

- Module ID and analytics name
- Vertical and business owner
- Display title and optional description
- Featured product fields
- Two supporting product fields
- Image dimensions and focal-point behavior
- Primary and secondary CTA rules
- Optional category links
- Empty, loading, and unavailable states
- Desktop, tablet, and mobile layout behavior
- CMS ordering and publishing permissions

## Component acceptance criteria

- Material UI components use shared tokens for type, spacing, color, borders, and focus states.
- Product cards preserve a consistent information hierarchy.
- Featured and supporting content are semantically distinguishable.
- CTAs remain clear without competing with every link in the module.
- Long product titles, missing images, and variable category counts are supported.
- Editorial teams can reorder approved modules without code changes.

## Responsive acceptance criteria

- Desktop modules preserve product hierarchy without creating excessive page width.
- Tablet layouts avoid awkward partial columns.
- Mobile uses one clear vertical reading order.
- Featured content remains first in the DOM and the visual sequence.
- Touch targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- Images use responsive sources and do not shift surrounding content.
- Sticky navigation does not cover headings or CTAs.

## Accessibility

- Headings follow a logical hierarchy.
- Product-card links have descriptive accessible names.
- Keyboard order follows the visual and reading order.
- Focus indicators meet contrast requirements.
- Color is not the only indication of hierarchy or selection.
- Images include meaningful alt text or are hidden when decorative.
- Tabs, accordions, or carousels use correct semantics when present.
- Reduced-motion preferences are respected.

## Analytics

- Homepage view
- Module impression using an agreed visibility rule
- Featured-product selection
- Supporting-product selection
- Category-link selection
- Homepage search use
- Navigation selection
- CTA selection
- Module order and variant
- Device category

Do not send personal information in event names or properties.

## CMS and content operations

- Required and optional fields are explicit.
- Character limits match the designed layouts.
- Editors can preview desktop and mobile states.
- Module scheduling and expiration rules are defined.
- Image focal points can be set where crops vary.
- Invalid or incomplete configurations cannot be published.
- Module reordering preserves analytics IDs.
- Manual fallback content exists for future personalized modules.

## SEO and semantic structure

- One clear page heading.
- Vertical sections use meaningful headings.
- Product links are standard crawlable links.
- Important content does not depend on client-only interaction.
- Editorial methodology remains available but secondary to product discovery.
- Repeated modules do not produce duplicate or misleading heading structure.

## Performance

- Prioritize the hero image and defer noncritical lower-page imagery.
- Use responsive image sizes and modern formats.
- Reserve image dimensions to prevent layout shifts.
- Avoid loading every module's interactive code at page start.
- Monitor performance by template version after release.

## QA scenarios

- All modules populated
- Missing featured image
- Long product title
- One supporting item missing
- Very long category list
- Priority vertical moved to the first position
- Seasonal module added
- Module hidden or expired
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Screen-reader navigation
- Narrow mobile viewport
- Slow or failed image loading
- Analytics blocked or unavailable
